Temasek Secondary School (abbreviation: TMS) is an autonomous secondary school in Singapore and serves Secondary One through Five. It was founded in 1980 sharing a campus with Bedok South Secondary School at Upper Changi Road.[2] In 1995, the school attained autonomy.[3] In March 1999, the school moved to its current campus at Upper East Coast Road.[3]
School culture[]
School crest[]
The school crest has historical references. Its main colour, navy blue, represents the sea which recalls Singapore's original name 'Temasek' (meaning Seaport Town) and from which it derives its name. The supporting colours are red and gold. Red represents brotherhood and team spirit while gold is symbolic of prosperity and progress. The motif depicts two lions holding a radiantly burning torch. The lions signify the nation and the school. The torch illuminates the nation's and school's ethos of a well-balanced curriculum of education and sports.
President's Challenge[]
Template:NOT The school has been participating in the President's Challenge since 2005, raising funds for it each year with help of sponsors. It has broken many records for charity every year which are recorded in the Singapore Book of Records including record of making the largest number of balloon animals at a time, and the record for the most number of people having a chocolate breakTemplate:Cn raising S$30,000 for the President's Challenge Fund. In 2007, students built Singapore's "Tallest House of Cards"Template:Cn with the final card being placed in a ceremony attended by President Sellapan Ramanathan. These cards, sponsored by Nestle raised S$30,000Template:Cn for charity.
Over $70,000Template:Cn was raised in 2008 for the President's Challenge, far surpassing their projected amount of SGD$40,000. The school set two records: Singapore's Largest Heart Montage Using Cards and Mostwas raised for the President's Challenge. The school also set two Singapore Records: the Largest Montage Made from Packet Drinks and the Most Number of People Having Breakfast Cereal at the same time.Template:Cn In 2010, together with Emway (Singapore) as the main sponsor, the students raised over $60 thousandTemplate:Cn for the President's Challenge setting two Singapore Records: the Longest Banner Drawn by the Most Number of People Drawing and the Most Number of People Playing Pictionary at the same time.Template:Cn
In 2011, together with National Family Council (Singapore) as main sponsor, the students have raised over $50 thousand for the President's Challenge. The school again set a Singapore record: Most Number of People Doing Crunches in 2 HoursTemplate:Cn, during its TMSA Sports Fiesta.
Annual camps and trips[]
The school runs two Resilience Camps for the students. The Secondary One students attend a local adventure camp while the Secondary Three students undergo a week-long camp in Pahang, Malaysia.
Student leadership[]
Template:NOT Four student leadership groups .Template:Cn include the Student Councillors whose duties include flag-raising and announcements, and helping to run school-based activities. The Peer Support Leaders organise character development programmes, and the Sports Captains promote health and sports in the school and lead students in Physical Education classes. Class Managers assist teachers in the management of class affairs,and the organisation to organize class based events, barbecues, and the Teachers' Day celebrations.

- Netball - 2nd Tier East Zone Challenge League, obtaining the 1st and 3rd place for 'B' and 'C' division respectively.
- Softball - In the East Zone competition, crowned champion for the 'B' division boys team.
2006
- Canoeing - Both the 'B' and 'C' Division girls came in as champions, and the 'C' Division boys 4th in the Nationals.
- Shooting Club (Air Rifle and Air Pistol) - Both 'B' and 'C' Division Air Rifle girls secured 2nd place, while the 'B' and 'C' Division Air Rifle boys attained 3rd and 4th places respectively in the Inter-School Zonal Championships. In additional, Shazunah Bte Aman clinched a 3rd position in the National competition individual event. In the NJC Open Inter-School Shooting Competition, the Air Rifle girls came in 1st, and the Air Rifle boys came in 4th. In the HomeTeamNS Inter-School Shooting Competition, the Air Rifle girls came in 3rd, and the Air Rifle boys came in 4th.
2007
- Canoeing - Both the 'B' and 'C' Division girls came 3rd in the Nationals.
- Shooting Club (Air Rifle and Air Pistol) - The 'B' Division Air Rifle girls, and 'C' Division Air Pistol girls emerged as champions, the 'C' Division Air Rifle boys and girls teams and the 'B' and 'C' Division Air Pistol boys teams came in 2nd, while the 'B' Division Air Rifle Boys came in 3rd in the Inter-School Zonal Championships. In additional, the Air Pistol 'C' Division girls came in overall 3rd and the Air Pistol 'B' Division boys came in overall 4th, doing our school proud in the National competition team event. In the NJC Open Inter-School Shooting Competition, the Air Rifle girls secured the 1st place once again, the Air Rifle boys came in 2nd, and the Air Pistol girls and boys teams came in 4th. In the HomeTeamNS Inter-School Shooting Competition, the Air Rifle boys came in 4th once again, and the Air Pistol girls came in 3rd. In the NTU Open Inter-School Shooting Competition, the Air Rifle boys came in 3rd, and the Air Pistol girls came in 4th.

- Temasek A Cappella Group (TAG) placed Champion and 1st runner-up in the National A Cappella Championships (High School Category) and won the award for Best Soloist (Stephanie Lim), the Percussionist of The Year (POTY) award (Lin Xuehen), the Best Costume award as well as the Audience Favourite award for a first ever total of 6 out of 6 possible awards for any team in the high-school category.
- At the 21st Century International Band Competition, the Temasek Wind Ensemble was awarded the Gold award.

Clubs and Societies[]
The Temasek IT Club (now known as Infocomm Club) has won awards in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, including Silver, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, while the Temasek Robotics Club won the Best Video Award at NJRC (National Junior Robotics Competition).[4] and won the Presentation Award and the third for the Research Award at the National Junior Robotics Competition 2010. The club was also placed fourth in the Dance competition in Canberra, Australia at the annual Robocup Junior Australia Competition.
Uniformed Groups[]
The Saint John Ambulance Brigade (SJAB) has won several awards including a Silver award three times. The school's National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) won a Silver award for the annual NPCC Unit Proficiency Assessment (UOPA). and the National Cadet Corps achieved Gold Award in 2010.
